Short, and late review of the Chad & Jeremy interview today on the Cousin Brucie show on Sirius satellite radio. Bruce, as you may or may not know, is at the very least a NYC legend. I don't know if he's known nationally now because of the pay radio thing, but in NYC he's the oldies king. You can do a Wiki search on the facts and figures, but the guy has been around forever.
Had he still been on AM or FM radio (and had sufficient and relevant stations remained), this interview might have had a more far reaching effect in terms of kicking up some sales. I myself won't pay for radio (my listening comes as a result of a 3 day free trial), and I do wonder how many folk who might be of the age of C&J's core audience are willing to pay for radio and actually heard this. But anyway, we did get about 27 minutes of a combined interview and 2 song live performance.
Songs were, again, Summer Song, which has certainly become a standard as the Cuz said, and we also got live Distant Shores, one of their best ballads from both back in the day and from their recent recordings and concerts.
We also got, from the new Ark-eology CD, a new verison of Pipedream, from the under appreciated The Ark album. What's great about this song, as well as the samples I've heard on MySpace, is that the songs do get a new full band treatment in many cases, making these new recordings sound more immediate and somewhat more contemporary than did the versions on the CD-R recordings from 2004-2007. Certainly, each version has value, but these seem just a little bit more alive.
And Brucie's review of the CD, and closing words, "It's sweet, it's lovely, it's today, it's yesterday, it has every feeling that you and I love so much," just sum the whole thing up so nicely, don't it?
Bed time. Maybe more tomorrow :).
