And the band plays

People do from time to time ask me what music I listen to. Here's what's been on recently:

1 - Michael McDermott live in Nashville. The was from September, the show is downloadable from his web site, www.michael-mcdermott.com, and is one damn fine show.

2 - Rosanne Cash - The List
This is her newest, based on a list of the top 100 country songs given to her by her father Johnny. She picked 12, and there you are. Long Black Veil, with Jeff Tweedy, and Sea of Heartbreak with Springsteen. Great CD.

3 - We Five - Small World and Softly As I Leave You
Two cuts from their first LP. Strangely addictive. And, aside from their hit, not too much else on there.

4 - Lisa & TJ Piccirillo Live at The Living Room
Well, you know, I made the tape :).

4 - Lisa Piccirillo & Patrick Thomas Live at Rockwood Music Hall
Audio & video here :).

5 - The Peppermint Rainbow - Will You Be Staying After Sunday
No excuses, I just like the sound of this. The video is on YouTube, though it makes me very uncomfortable.

6 - Hall & Oates - The Box Set
Damn he has a fine voice, and he's my age. Acoustic music recently, but fantastic music any way it's played.

7 - Art Garfunkel - Some Enchanted Evening
There is not a bad song here, of course, but I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face, and Let's Fall In Love are the winners for me.

8 - PF Sloan - Retrospective
I know that he probably tossed a lot of this stuff off at the rate of a couple a day, but there are songs here more than 40 years old that just do not grow old.

9 - John Sebastian - Various Live
John's voice may be gone now, but these older tapes still shine vocally. A lot of his post Spoonful stuff was not at the same level as were the Spoonful hits, but what songs were? And he still did a lot of the Spoonful hits on the shows I'm listing to.

10 - Beatles - 2009 Remastered
I'm about done with these now :).

And that's my recent top 10. Sometimes news radio is just too much bad news.

Happy to hear from anyone with their picks. If I remember anything else, I'll get back on it.

  1. Oops, I'll try again. I'm loving Michael Buble's "Crazy Love," especially "Just Haven't Met You Yet." Janet
