Here are two more nice shots from Mohegan Sun in April of 2009, also supplied by a good friend. This show came off way better than I expected, what with the noise and distraction of the casino surrounding the Wolf Den performing area. 21 songs, just about 75 minutes long, and we saw, if I'm not mistaken, the debut of Don't Look Back, Generation Rumble, and maybe What Do You Want With Me and Hey Baby in 2009. The pacing in this show was pretty brisk, maybe because of time limitations, but it did work very well for this venue, keeping things moving and the audience attentive. And the addition of bass and drums (Doug Garing & Beau Stuart) worked wonderfully in this setting. I personally hope that they do this again, maybe more intimately in the now closed Cabaret (if that's possible), but if not then certainly here. I'm happy to have seen shows in both locations, and there's a definitely different dynamic for each. Hard actually now to say which was the better :).
Christmas music tonight is Johnny Mathis' 1958 "Merry Christmas," Mariah Carey, Chris Issak, and the marvelous Steve Lawrence & Edie Gorme. Had to throw in Go Away, Little Girl & Pretty Blue Eyes. What a voice, under rated for certain :).
More to follow. Or rather , more on this score anon. That's a phrase I learned early on at the then Walden Book Company, from the late and very great, Mr. Tom Paynter. Anyway, before I start to reminisce, gotta run :).
Fantastic shots and great commentary of the C&J concert. Tony, keep up the good work. (And Lisa is beautiful.) Janet
