DVD?

I note with some trepidation that all mention of the DVD release of "Yesterday's Back" has been removed from both MySpace and Facebook. I don't often visit the MySpace site, especially now that the 2009 tour is over, but did this morning, and found that both instances of the promo video have been removed, and that the edited biography on the site mentions only the pending release of Zanzibar Sunset CD in 2010. (I hope that someone removes my comment from the "videos" section on MySpace as it looks a little weird now with nothing to reference it to :)). You'll also note that several of the YouTube videos have been changed, and some other, beneficial, cosmetic changes have been made there.

Facebook has also removed the mention of the DVD in it's biog section. I mention this so maybe someone out there can pose a question on the Yahoo site to see what's happening. I'd do it myself, but have had some trouble getting replies lately :).

Anyway, in addition to the removal of the DVD announcement on these two sites, please note the addition of a new sales/music sample player called NIMBIT (acronym for New Ideas for Music Business & Internet Technology). While the year old Ark-eology is now sampled, I'm sure they're gearing up for Zanzibar Sunset, due early next year. One of the proposed benefits of NIMBIT is the ability to install this app on social networking sites, and give fans the capability of ordering product (both digital and physical) without leaving the site they're on. Hopefully that's an indication that they'll be drawing more fans to both MySpace and Facebook, as well as interacting on both sites. Twitter, anyone?

My further hope is that while they do pursue these more modern sales methods, that they don't forget what I believe to be older fan demographics, and put the proverbial eggs in one basket. Guess we'll see. It's been perplexing to me that while their marketing has relied heavily on the "nostalgia" tag, a lot of the marketing efforts have been directed toward younger, more tech savvy, people than you might expect. Again, time will tell, and I hope this direction works for them. We're here, right?

More later.
