And so it begins....... So, several things you should know about me. I turned 60 last year, I am presently unemployed, and I don't know if I have the stamina to pull this off. More on that later. And hello to George, Woody, John, Joe, Denny, and more on them later.
I feel that I owe Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde big time for helping me through my teenage years. By the time I discovered them in '64 or '65, I was already close to the end of my teens, and had suffered enough teenage angst (but luckily no acne) for several kids, but still. They somehow kept me sane through long summer nights when of course I felt like I was the only kid in the world with an aching heart.
So it came as a real big surprise when I did some web searching several years ago to find that one Jason Rhoden had actually devoted a web site to the boys http://www.jasonrh.com/cj/index.html (they will always be boys, as will the Beatles, and the original members of the Lovin Spoonful) , with a complete history, discography, and if I recall correctly, pictures of them with Patty Duke. Patty bore a faint resemblence to my first girlfriend Bonnie, who shall remain nameless. An even better surprise came a bit later when I discovered a heretofore unknown LP they produced in the early 80's. BTW, a link to the new site http://www.chadandjeremy.net/cj/
Well, long story short, they are back again, and touring, and have recorded several new CD-R's with both new material and re-recordings with great new acoustic arrangements of their old hits, which I and my very small circle of friends mentioned above not only still revere but celebrate every chance we can. More to follow, I swear.
That's the reason for this blog. To celebrate Chad & Jeremy, and pass on the news as I find it. Big thanks to Jason, and a Mr. Caswell Cooke Jr, who seemed to come out of nowhere (actually Rhode Island) in 2006, and has bumped their promotion up several notches.
